As part of the Qatar Chapter Capacity Building Programme, an online workshop was conducted by the Al Khor International School on Microsoft Teams platform on September 24, 2022. Mr.Dipin Joseph & Mr.Varghese P Joseph of the English department attended the session.

The Capacity Building Programme comprised two sessions, from 9 am to 11 am, on two important topics in the context of English language teaching: “Critical Thinking in English Language Teaching” and “PPP Lesson Plan Structure in Teaching English Language”. Two teachers of English Department, Mr. Dipin Joseph and Mr. Varghese P Joseph, attended the programme, representing DPS-MIS, Doha Qatar. The first session, “Critical Thinking in English Language Teaching” was led by Mr. Allen White, Subject Leader at Al Khor International School-CBSE Senior, and it focused on critical thinking skills specific to English language and literature teaching. The presenter focused on the significance of improving critical thinking among students, tips, strategies and tools for implementing critical thinking in the English lesson, etc. The second session, “PPP Lesson Plan Structure in Teaching English Language”, was led by Mr. Justin Diraviam of Al Khor International School and focused on the PPP (Presentation, Practice, and Production) structure of lesson plan and how it can be effectively incorporated in English lessons. Overall, the capacity building programme enabled the participants to make their teaching practice more effective by focusing on encouraging critical thinking in classrooms and following a student oriented lesson plan in teaching.
