Topic: MALAYALAM: USE OF KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM IN SECONDARY LEVEL
This report outlines the details of the workshop conducted on the” Use of Knowledge and Wisdom in Secondary Level”. This workshop was part of the Capacity Building Programme and was conducted on 24 September 2022 in Bhavan’s Public School, Wakrah. Malayalam Teachers from various Indian
Schools in Qatar took part in the programme. Ms.Jolly Jose and Ms.Shiny Ahmed represented from DPS Modern Indian School.
The programme commenced at 9.30 am with the introduction of the guests by Mr. Ajithkumar K, HoD of Malayalam Department, Bhavan’s School. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. M.P. Philip, the School Principal. Senior Malayalam Teacher & Activity Coordinator, Mr. Shaiju, took over from there.
It was a very interesting session where participants discussed how different is wisdom and knowledge and how both can be inculcated into the curriculum of Secondary Level. There was a short tea break at 10.45. Tea and snacks were provided by the organizers. After the tea break, Mr. Shaiju continued with the session. The participants were divided into four groups. Each group separately discussed the problems faced by Language Teachers in the teaching of the language. They discussed the following topics:
- Why Malayalam language is degraded as a second grade language?
- How can students minimize mistakes while writing?
- Lack of study materials.
- Have parents lost their interest in Malayalam?
It was a wonderful opportunity for teachers from different schools to get together and discuss the problems faced by them and also to share solutions so as to make the teaching a better experience.
