Qatar Chapter Capacity Building Programme Conducted BY DPS-Modern INDIAN SCHOOL.
Topic: "Imbibing Values in the Era of Technology to Spread awareness and strengthen the Identity, Citizenship and Values of Qatar".
Under the aegis of Qatar Chapter Principal’s forum, DPS Modern Indian School organized a Capacity Building Programme for the teachers of Indian schools in Qatar on Saturday, 24th September 2022 on the topic of “Imbibing Values in the Era of Technology to Spread awareness and strengthen the Identity, Citizenship and Values of Qatar”. The session began with a welcome address by Ms.Sini Menon ( Headmistress I-V) followed by a prayer The session was conducted by the resource persons of the day were Ms. Lakshmi Bijoy and Dr. Deepika. 35 educators from various Indian schools in Qatar attended the workshop. Principal Ms. Asna Nafees addressed the gathering and shared her valuable insights. Ms. Hyacinth Mary Cruz, Vice Principal Sec.School & head of the Moral Science department also addressed the gathering and said that character education is truly a transformational movement. The seminar was held in two sessions with the first speaker, Ms. Lakshmi Bijoy asserting that technological advancements have contributed to the degradation of morality. The need to create a comprehensive education based on well-established principles to preserve values was emphasized. It was also discussed how Qatar aims at developing a world class education system that would promote analytical and critical thinking of students, developing creativity and innovation and at the same time how the country also emphasizes on the promotion of social cohesion, care for morality and respect for the values and heritage of Qatari society.
The second speaker of the day Dr. Deepika, shared her views on adopting experiential learning methodologies. It was emphasized that teachers need to design classroom activities to actively engage students learn by doing, and then reflect on the process and create their own understanding as such opportunities allow students to engage, interact and enhance their problem-solving skills. The event was completed with the distribution of participation certificates and a group photograph with all the educators. This seminar was very effective and was conducted smoothly with the support and coordination of professional development team, IT, Facilities and transport departments respectively.
Value based education is truly a transformational movement. If morality and technology develops in conjunction, it has the potential to transform education and society so that we can live in peace and harmony with each other ensuring sustainability of our planet.
